HISTORYThe Connecticut Association for Healthcare
Quality is a non-profit organization that was originally founded in 1980 in an effort to
fulfill the professional and educational needs of Utilization Review Coordinators. As jobs
changed so did the name of the association to the Connecticut Association of Quality
Assurance Professionals that encompassed both UR and QA activities. CTAHQ became an
affiliated state of the National Association for Healthcare Quality (formerly the National
Association of Quality Assurance Professionals) in June 1983. A second name change
occurred in 1990 when we became the Connecticut Association for Healthcare Quality.
Membership now consists of representation in the areas of quality, utilization and risk
management and corporate compliance from acute care, home care, rehabilitation, behavior
health, Qualidigm and CHA .
